First Time To Italy

We will be spending 12 days in Italy and our plan is to begin in Rome and drive to Venice. Is this reasonable? I am also interested in any info about beaches in the east like Rimini. Any suggestions would be great. Also if anyone has made this drive please include any must sees that you might have.

Thank you

Not too many people drive from Rome to Venice, since the train service in Italy is so good (or they just rent a car in the middle to see Tuscany and/or Umbria). I can't comment on Rimini.

What do you want to see in your 12 days on the way from Rome to Venice? Even on the train, it is around 4-1/2 hours. There are about a million "must-sees" along the way. Are you interested in cities, art, museums, food, wine, countryside, hill towns, shopping, etc., etc.?

And how many nights do you actually have in Italy? Does the 12 days include travel to/from the US or somewhere else? We need more information to help you.

45 minutes north of Venice is a beach resort area. http://www.jesolo.it/default.asp?L=3

Hi

My wife and I have been to Italy a couple of times. We went to Rome in July last year and we went to Venice a couple of years back. I have posted trip reports, pictures and links from these trips on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com :-) Maybe you can find some useful information there.

There is also a beach resort 15 minutes by vaporetto from historic Venice--the Lido of Venice. http://www.venicelido.it/
