First time Italy Travellers
 

Hello all,
My husband and I are going to Italy for our 5th Anniversary from the 4th to the 14th of October. We fly in and out of Rome. We want to hit Venice, Florence, and Tuscany (Cinque Terre). We have a B&B booked for two days in Rome upon arrival and the last night prior to departure and a B&B booked for the last two days of the trip in Venice. What can you reccomend for the time in the middle. We are thinking of staying in a central location like Florence.
Also, I am a photographer...what's recommended for us artists?
Please help!

10 days is good for R, F and V.

If you don't have your tickets yet, fly into Venice or Rome and out the other.

If you wish to see Venice and Florence you should stay in Venice and Florence.

Day trips are not a good idea. You will get tired from traveling, feel rushed, and come back complaining that you don't see why everyone makes such a big deal out of Italy.

The Cinque Terre is not in Tuscany. You have ten days; please visit Rome, Florence and Venice. If you absolutely must do a day trip, consider one that is a lot closer to your route. From Venice, maybe Verona or Ravenna.

From Florence, a half day in Fiesole, or maybe a day in Siena.

Rome: too much to see. Don't day trip.

That is a busy schedule. You could stay two night in Florence, one near CT (La Spezia?) and two on Lago de Como or Maggiore. Driving from Venice to Rome in one day will have to be an autostrada power trip.

Two of my favorite places close to Florence are Siena and San Gimignano. We stayed at an amazing hotel in the courtyard at San Gimignano. I felt like Juliet looking out my window onto the courtyard below, and the shopping was great!
