First time in spain

Hi all,

We are going to spain for the first time in Oct 2008. We are going to be there for 7 days. We are landing in barcelona-planning to be there for 3-4 days. We want to see another place in spain also in that time. We were thinking of seville. However we are not too much into museums. Do you guys think seville is a must see?
Any recommendation on another place in spain. Is valencia any good in october.
We like beaches, bars etc

Thanks so much...

Seville is a very good choice.
(Madrid is the "museum' city )
You can fly Vueling - cheap!

With such limited time, yes I would agree Seville is a good choice. But nowhere near a beach.....

If I was choosing one place to stay in Spain it would not be Valencia. How do you plan on travelling within Spain?

Well if I had had enough of Barcelona in 4 days I might try Malaga for 3 or Grenada just because the Alhambra is so lovely in Autumn.

Seville and Malaga are close by train so might be worth flying into M, seeing the Picasson, walk along the beech then back to Seville for a little shopping

seville is an outstanding city to visit. i was there in april of 2006. it has the massive cathedral and moorish tower (giralda), the alcazar or moorish/christian palace complex, the maestranza corida for bull fighting (but i'm not surewhen the season is), great food, flamenco, maria luisa park, plaza de espana, etc. also the roman ruins of italica/santiponce are a short bus ride away with its massive roman arena complex. seville is a good choice....

i second the bcn-madrid idea.
Madrid Reina Sofia is one of the most memorable collections i have seen.
great bars around malasaña and lavapies in Madrid, or c/joaquim costa (Raval) and c/argentera in Barcelona.

or bcn-valencia (pretty easy train ride and authentic paella/beaches in valencia!)
