first time in italy

My girlfriend and I will be going to Italy in late May/June. We will have 8 days to spend there. We would like to see Rome and Venice and mabye a smaller town in between.Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Orvieto is a nice hilltop town about an hour north of Rome, and easily reached by train.

Hi Hey,

I suggest flying into Venice - 3 nights, training to Rome, and flying home from there.

Orvieto is a very nice hill town.

Train schedules and prices are at www.trenitalia.com

Check www.kayak.com for airfare.

Enjoy your visit.

Hi,

My recommendation would be

Venice 3 nts
Orvieto 1 nt
Rome 4 nts

Orvieto is wonderful, but you really should stay overnight to enjoy it to the max!

Buon viaggio!

I assume you can fly into Rome and out of Venice, or vice versa? Personally, I wouldn't pass up Florence: Venice 2 nights, Florence 2 nights, Rome 4 nights. Day-trip to Orvieto or another small town, if desired.

I love Siena! Also reachable by train.
The cathedral there is breathtaking and the town is wonderful to wander around.
