First time in Europe
I will be spending about 9 days in Italy in late September. Part business, part pleasure. I have never been there before and I am excited for the trip. I will be spending time in Venice, Milan and Aqua Terme, with some quick side trips thrown in.
I know this is a broad request, but if anyone has any advice, must sees, etc...I would greatly appreciate the help. Thank you! Harry |
Are you on business in all of those places? Or is that where you want to go when your business is completed? How many days will you have for actual touring? Before we can give you advice we need to know more.
Do you just want to hit the big popular sights, or what? In 9 days you can't manage many side trips, either. |
Thank you for your reply. I have business in Milan and Aqua Terme for a total of four days. The rest of the time is really open. I realize I won't be able to do many side trips and I'm hoping this will wet my appetite for a longer visit soon. I promised my girlfriend we would spend a little time in Venice. I am sure this trip will go much faster then I want.

Take a trip on the water bus just outside the station in Venice. The boat to the Lido is good. That is where the beach is. There are wide streets and you can hire a bicycle. If you walk left when you leave the quay at Lido you will get to the beach in about 10 mins. The water is lovely.
The Doges Palace just near San Marco is pretty good for a visit. Not only do you see the rooms but there is a prison underneath and you can visit the cells. |
Where is Aqua Terme? Google doesn't show anything for it.
Will you have a car? |
If you are in Milan and if you intend to visit again Venice with your GF, then maybe will do a shorter visit now in Venice and you will have 1-2 days to go to Lake Como or Maggiore, as Milan is very close to them.

Acqui Terme is a town in Piedmonte, perhaps that is what he is referring to?
|
Pardon me, Acqui Terme is correct. Thank you all for your help.
A couple of days at Lake Como or Maggiore sounds great. I am new to this community and you have been very kind. Harry |
