First Solo Adventure
Hey there,
I am a 20-something planning a solo trip to Europe well in advance and I'm going to stay in hostels. I've been to Rome, Tuscany, Lucca, Florence, Venice, Giverny, and Paris and I am very comfortable with public transport. I love to learn about new cultures, I love architecture, I'm a huge foodie, and I'm interested in meeting new people. My goal is to have an adventure on my own. The trip is going to be about 18 - 21 days and I really don't want to cram everything in all at once which is why I want 4 - 5 destinations at most. I do want to go to places that have good transportation systems because I'm not going to rent a car.. I'm up for a few of museums but I'd really like to just get immersed in the city and its locals. One thing I'm looking forward to is visiting a few castles and going out more at night since my last trip was with my mom. I definitely want to go to Berlin and Amsterdam and London. Some other cities I've been thinking about are Copenhagen, Denmark Porto, Portugal Lisbon, Portugal Madrid, Spain Barcelona, Spain Budapest, Hungary Vienna, Austria Dublin, Ireland Nice, France I'm just looking for some ideas either on the 1 - 2 cities to add, amazing things to see in any of these cities, and/or the three cities I've already decided on. Like I said I'm comfortable with public transport and I also have common sense. So anything helpful would be appreciated. Thanks! |

I knew I posted twice and I did it on purpose. I also know how the site works.
Thanks. |
Hmmm... may I ask your reasoning?

He dropped Hungary and Ireland, adding Portugal and Spain. I guess he changed his mind. Must have read a od book.
|
Never mind.

@ Robert: Very observant of you - thanks! I can now better understand the logic of a new thread, but I certainly would have appreciated it if the OP would have added a note to the "outdated" thread saying so and directing me to the newer post. JMO.

I'm confused! I just looked more closely, and the lists of possible destinations look the same to me. Every words looks the same to me!
So while I may be missing something (and trust that someone will let me know if that's the case), my recommendation to my fellow Fodorites is: Should you choose to respond, please do so on the OP's OTHER, later, post. http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...e-723750-2.cfm |
As far as I can see the two OP's are pretty much identical -- only a slight change in the tags.
So essentially we have two identical threads going and folks posting to one won't won't necessarily see the responses on the other one |
also here: google is your friend, mate.

"I also know how the site works."
Apparently not!! |
Some guys know how to motivate people.

If Spain is still of interest, you can research local travel and the castle towns outside of Madrid. There were a lot of strongholds built during the reconquista period that look interesting. Then finish up in Barcelona for some Modernista architecture and party time...or beach.
|
If you are planning your trip during summer and are into nightlife and parties, why not try the beach resort of Mamaia, in Romania? It's night life rivals that of Ibizza (Spain) or Miami!
Have fun! |
trips4me: The OP posted a whole flurry on Sept 19 and 20 last year and never returned. Doubt of she is still looking.
