First night in London, which Gordon Ramsay pub for dinner?
 

We leave in about 48 hours (but who's counting ;-) ) and staying at LHR Marriot for one night. Arriving midday Saturday. Would like to start our adventure with dinner in London......just 'cause we can! Big GR fans and I thought perhaps dinner in one of his pubs.

Which would be the easiest to get to (& from) LHR? And in the 'nicest'area for a general walk around before or after dinner.

They are, The Warrington, The Devonshire & the Narrow.

By LHR do you mean Heathrow Airport??

The Narrow is on the east of town at the dlr stop Limehouse, so that would take forever to get to.

If you do mean Heathrow...why are you staying there one night??

Yes I do mean Heathrow. We pick up a hire car the next day and head to Salisbury.

I've tried to have a look where they all are, but not knowing London that well, its hard to picture.

I just thought one may be in 'central' London and wouldn't take 'forever' to get there.

All his restaurants are on his website with the menus, maps etc. We have booked the Boxwood next week.

Well in that case the Warrington is likely the easiest for you to get to as its by Maida Vale. You could take the Heathrow Express to Paddington and then jump on the Bakerloo line to Maida Vale.

Thanks trumps, yeah I found the site, menus etc. Just couldn't work out 'where' they were in relation to anything.

I have recently eaten at The Warrington and The Devonshire (twice).

Both were enjoyable - The Devonshire is more gastropub and relaxed, whilst The Warrington is more like a restaurant than gastropub. Overall I preferred The Devonshire.

Getting to The Devonshire from Heathrow is easy. Take the Piccadilly Line tube to Acton Town, then change onto the District Line for 2 stops to Turnham Green. The pub is 5 minutes walk from there.

Here's the only "difficulty" with your plan...getting from the Marriott to the tube station. You can do it using the Hoppa Bus which will be cheaper than taking a taxi ride.

The folks at the Marriott (very knowledgeable and friendly) can give you exact advice/directions.

Thanks Dukey, I had thought that where ever we went we would need to 'get' to the Tube. (fortunately we have used the Tube before and were blown away how easy it is) the Hoppa bus is a great idea.

aussiedreamer - My understanding is that there is also local bus (which is free) that you can take to/from Heathrow to the Marriott Heathrow, instead of taking the Hoppa. There are at least 2 bus lines you can take and they run 24 hours. Do a search and you can save £££ for your GR meal!

melrose4616, do you mean just the upstairs at the Warrington is more like a restaurant, or downstairs too ? It used to be my local, and I have occasionally popped in for a pint when visiting London since, so I'd be sorry if it is the latter.

The Devonshire just confirmed our booking c/w directions, tube lines etc. to get there. Very nice to deal with. Thats it, last job. Off we go.

It used to be a laugh in the summer, risking getting run over when ferrying pints to and from the roundabout :-(
