Fodor's Travel Talk Forums - First Impression of PARIS: which neighborhood???

We always go to Pont Neuf and take a ride AFTER DARK on the Vedettes de Pont Neuf. A one hour ride on the Seine (bring along a bottle of wine) It is narrated in many languages, is very romantic, and all the famous buildings and monuments are lit up from high powered lights on the roof of the boat. 10 euros vs 200 euros for the bateau mouches boring dinner cruises that last 3 hours and you are ready to kill yourself by the time you get off. We take this same boat on the last evening of our visit to Paris..we usually fly in and out of Paris. It is always a wonderful memory and we meet fabulous people from all over the world on these boat rides. If you miss this, you will not have seen Paris. Trust me. Our last trip ended 4/4/06 Our two star but really like a 3 star was 87 euros and is on the left bank near the marche mouffetarde (paris' oldest outdoor market)
