As far as transportation from the airport, you might look at this thread, which discusses it at length:

How many people are you traveling with and how much luggage?

francophile03 May 11th, 2004 07:19 PM

I think you got the K & K Cayres from a tour package? Anyway, it's not bad as I understand it's near Musee d'Orsay and near to St. Germain. It's a good-sized hotel, part of the K & K chain.
You will be very pleased to know that on tripadvisor.com there are many excellent reviews of the hotel. Well, there's one slight negative comment about the expensive breakfast cost. But that's typical in Paris.
On the whole everyone loved the hotel and its location so don't worry.

i will be traveling alone and just taking a 22inch on wheels and a duffle bag as a carry on...trying to pack light and what is the weather in france starting june? any suggestions for rome,i do want to stay long on both cities to get a little familiar with paris n rome so i don't think i will be taking side trips there seems to be tons of things to do in either..

I have not had the great opportunity to visit Paris in June (too expensive for airfare) so I am guessing that the weather (on the whole) will be very nice that time of year. Keep in mind that Parisian weather is changeable. I have visited in April and it's not like that famous song-it was quite cold.

And by the way: bon voyage & buon viaggio!

Hi salina,

www.volareweb.com will fly you from Paris Orly to FCO for about 30E+tax.

It is much faster and more convenient than the train.

For Rome hotel, location is most critical factor. The best areas are near the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, and Campo de' Fiori. These three areas comprise the historical center, are beuatiful, and most convenient to walking to all the sights. As a result, hotels are more expensive in these areas (though there ARE options in the 100Euro/night range). Absolutely worth the few extra dollars.

Sounds like a great trip! I love traveling alone. Anyway, you asked about ways into Paris from CDG. My first ever trip, treated myself to a Cab..lo'n behld in 7am rush hour traffic there was an accident up ahead, the normal 50'e cost became 90e's...(which difference is the cost of a very nice meal with some very nice wine!) Last time I opted out for the Air France Bus, I think was 10E's, (everyone can take it, you don't need to have been an AF flyer) into the City then a cab to the flat (which also was in St. Germain, the 6eme)...that cab fare was 10E's, including my tip. Other's will recommend the RER I'm sure...I just didn't want to bother with THAT at about 6:30 am...my arrival time

salina May 12th, 2004 07:47 AM

which hotels in the piazza navona, campo de fiori and the pantheon...any suggestion for any of these areas

travelbunny May 12th, 2004 08:23 AM

..agree with suzie re the air france bus..the rer is ok but not as convenient..re hotels in rome..agree with recommendations re the area..also be careful that not on a busy street (fortunately, many of the streets near plaza navona are pedestrian or scooter only)..re weather in paris in june..variable- can be quite warm but also moderate too..make sure you have some light cotton tops but also a sweater and umbrella....you can actually get historical avg temps on weather underground..have a great trip!

Take a look at Santa Chiara and Teatro di Pompeo. Both of these are within your budget and are listed here on Fodors.com. Click on "Destinations", then "Rome", then "Hotels". These are both very popular, so book ASAP.

For tours, take a look at Scala Reale. Here's the website: http://www.scalareale.org/pages/
