Where to pickup a rental car after leaving Cique Terre

I will be visiting Italy in Sept and after spending 3 nights in Cique Terre(Levanto) I need to rent a car as I have a villa in Tuscany for a week. I am wondering what would be the best place to pick up the car? I am thinking of Pisa. I would also like to know what would be the best drop off point as I will be in Rome after visit ing Tuscany. Do I drop the car off in Rome or in the Tuscany region and take a train to Rome?

Pisa is probably OK, but also look into availability in Rapallo. Depends on which route you plan to take to Tuscany.

I would avoid dropping the car off in Rome. It's sort a mess to drive there. I would drop it off in Tuscany.

You can take a direct train to nearby La Spieza then a taxi to the car rental office. It's pretty quick and easy to get on the highway from La Spieza and then head south into Tuscany.

Return the car in Chiusi or Orvieto and then hop on a train to Rome.

I usually use autoeurope.com or kemwel.com for car rental.

Pick up in La Spezia or Pisa and drop it in Orvieto to train into Rome.
