Finishing School, Paris/CH
 

Whatever happened to the old-style european finishing schools for young girls? Are they still around and could one visit a few? I am thinking my young niece(10 yrs.)might benefit greatly from a course. She doesn't seem to have any idea of the social graces and her mother thinks etiquette is old-fashioned. Maybe a summer course.

Perhaps you should send the girl's mother too : )

I did a search for "finishing" and got two hits: Surval, as noted above, at www.surval.ch, and Villa Pierrefeu at www.ivpworld.com. Both offer summer courses in etiquette or hostessing. There are lots of other private schools, so you may want to play around and surf around the site.<BR><BR>I was lucky enough to attend a boarding school in Switzerland (a lifetime ago), and I must warn you that some are only warehouses for rich kids.<BR><BR>s
