Finding the right trian stop ( Civitavecchia to Rome)
I am trying to get some information for my parents. They are taking a Med. Cruise and will be docking in Civitavecchia. I am printing off information on taking the train from there into Rome. I know there's a S.Pietro stop but when I look at www.trenitalia.com it shows these stops:
ROMA TE (this is termani, I assume) RM TRAS RO OST (this is Ostiense) RO TUSC But what about S.Pietro? What am I missing here? Thanks for your help |
Trains which I have taken from Civitavecchia (and I usually took regional trains which originated there) have all stopped at the San Pietro station.
Apparently they don't all stop there. But i just went to the Trenitalia.com site and typed in Roma San pietro as the destination and got all sorts of results. the abbreviation on the Trenitalia site was Roma Pi Yes, TE would be for Termini and TRAS would be for Trastevere |
Sorry..my reply was cut off
the abbreviation on the Trenital site for San pietro is Roma Pi try putting in Roma Pi or Roma San Pietro as the DESTINATION and you'll get all sorts of results |
Thanks, I'll change my search criteria and see what I get. I appreciate the info.

Just took train Termini - Civitavecchia and back last month. Both times stopped at S Pietro station. In fact i got off there on the way back to go to the nearby Vatican.
The train station is Civitavecchia is about a half mile down the boardwalk from the ship terminals. takes just over an hour if i remember - slow stopping trains. |
I think only 'R' (regional) trains stop at San Pietro.
IC & ES trains apparently don't, according to trenitalia. There are 4 or 5 'R' train between 07.00 and 08.00. After that, about half-hourly. Hope this helps ... Steve |
After you enter the cities and the list of train options appear, click details and on the next screen, click the train number. The list of stops will open in a new window. You can also enter Civitavecchia and Roma S Peitro. It appears one train is 10 minutes faster.

If they don't mind taking one of those regionals (which seem to stop everywhere along the way and take about an hour) they shouldn't have any problem.
The San Pietro stop is only a short walk from St. Peters. |
