final spain intinerary hopefully??!!??

After much discussion and fodor's input, I think I'm ready to say this itinerary has it all. Would like any last minute reactions. Flying in and out of Madrid with husband and two children in their 20's.
2 nights in Madrid,
take the AVE to Cordoba, 1 night
take the AVE to Sevilla, 2 nights
Rent car, drive to Ronda 1 night
Drive to Nerja, 1 night
Drive through Alpujarras, Granada 2 nights
Drive to Toledo, last night
Drop car off at Madrid airport, home
Main concerns are whether we have enough nights in Sevilla and Madrid. Don't know what to let go of though. Think this itinerary gives us some of every place we want to see with the least amount of doubling back or rushing. But welcome reassurance or thoughts about changes. Thanks!!!

I think it sounds terrific--wish I could fit in your suitcase! As for having enough time in Seville and Madrid--well, they'll be there and you can go back--I know I will be.

Have a great trip and report back to us!

I also think the itinerary is as good as you can make it, and I don't think you need any more nights in Sevilla. The only reason to keep on Madrid is probably to keep eating (the food there is excellent) and to get to the next layer of smaller churches and museum, but you can see the Prado and whatever other museum most interests you in that time frame and still have time to relax in a Plaza.

Others will howl, but I did not find a tour of the royal palace in Madrid very interesting -- but I am quirky when it comes to most big royal palaces. If, however, you are mad for tilework, you will want to see some rooms of it.

That is for sure a respectable itinerary. Driving through the Alpujarras is gorgeous! I don't know when you are going, but I have been there in August to help out on raisin harvests and I think it is a really nice visual scene.
