Final Planning for Italy
 

I am finalizing plans for our Italy vacation and would like help on must see sites along the way. Our travel plans are as follows: Arrive Milan pu car drive to Bellagio (2 days) Verona (2days)Venice (2days) Florence (3days) Assisi (2 days) Rome (3days).Our plans are to rtn our car during our stay in Rome. Any suggestions on the length of stay in the above locations too long or too short. I have hotel and B&B reservations but I am open to any suggestions. We arriving May 13th returning on May 26th. In past trips I have ceated index cards with suggestions that I received from this website. Thanks for the help... <BR>Paul

Unless the point of your trip is to get to know the Italian roads, or you just wanted to go back and REVISIT favorite places in those cities you mentioned, you are going to too many places in too short a period of time. I recommend spending more time in fewer cities. You can divide your days between 3 cities and still feel you want to spend more time in each of them.

Paul, <BR>While in Bellagio, be sure not to miss stopping by a small wine/liquor store by the name of "Tony's Wine & Spirits." The owner of the store is known as "Tony the Wine King" and he greets you at the front door with a smile and an empty glass. The store is quite cavernous and you may try anything that you'd like. It's a neat place and I can't help but smile when I look back at the picture my wife snapped of me and Tony toasting it up! <BR> <BR>Robbie

Paulette, <BR> <BR>The way your itinerary is set down, it appears you're a first time visitor to Italy. Is your itinerary "doable"? Yes, but I've have to agree with Hamlet. You have to tell yourself you'll return and you will, probably much sooner than you think. Having this in mind, it would also help not to spend unnecessary funds. <BR> <BR>In your shoes, I'd axe Bellagio and Verona. I'd take the train to Venice and from there to Florence. In Florence I'd rent a car to tour Tuscany/Umbria before returning it in Rome. <BR> <BR>I'd spend 3 nights in Venice, 3 in Florence, 3 in Tuscany/Umbria and 4 in Rome. <BR> <BR>Paulo

Verona is a beautiful city but it's on the way to Venice and you only need a day there... don't ax it all together... it has some great stuff there (including juliets balcony and coliseum) and is one of my favorite cities...have fun and eat the gelato ciao
