final itinerary help

I have pretty much finalized our Italy trip with the exception of a one night stay or split stay, in the middle of our 15 nights in italy. Please help with last detail
March 28 arrive rome 4 nights
Depart April 1 for Siena? Should we stay one or two nights, Taking one night out of our 3 nights in florence. Leaving Florence for 3 nights in venice then short flight with volare to naples to stay in sorrento last 4 nights
Please help, any hotel rec's for Siena too. I know I am going from north italy back south but flights times & connections were better.

Hi aka

Many folks have recommended staying overnight in Siena to get a better flavor of the town.

I don't think that I would do two nights in Siena and only one in Florence.

thans ira, for your reply, I should have been more clear, Our choice was
4 nights rome
2 nights siena? (Or 1 night Siena)
2 nights Florence(with 3 nights Florence
3 nights venice
4 nights sorrento

Hi aka

We pretty much did Siena in one day. I would go with an overnight visit.

You can use the night in Florence to go up to Fiesole (no. 7bus from train station) and watch the sun set over the city.

Aka, Ira has given you great advice. Siena is wonderful, but not really worth more than a night during a shortish trip. We did it as a day trip from Florence and were totally satisfied.

Personally I'm a huge fan of Florence, so stay the extra night there if at all possible. I just loved the atmosphere of history and culture. Then again I'm weird that I studied Renaisance history with most of it in Florence. I think I was in love. But then again we were there in October so the tour groups weren't totally insane. In March you should have about the same experience.

I'll disagree. I'd personally spend two nights in Siena. You won't arrive I assume until afternoon, and then you'll have one full day to explore and enjoy it. When you leave the second day, you'll be in Florence by mid morning, giving you all afternoon, plus the full next day, plus up to noon or so of another day if you want before heading on to Venice. Going "out of your way" to Siena just to have a couple hours, unpack and spend the night, then move on seems pointless to me. Or if you felt you wanted to do even more, go out to one of the towns in Chiani or go to San Gimagnano for part of that full day.

Everything else sounds pretty perfect to me.
