Fill 4 or 5 days for me please-Spain
the facts:
My first time to Spain
November 7-30
Travel companion has a cousin who live on Mallorca
Travel companion wants to spend 10 days with cousin
(We live in Hawaii so not concerned about not being beach weather)
I want to stay last week in Barcelona
What would u suggest do middle 5 or so days.
Priorities:
Me-Dali museum ( which I may do with Spanish trails from Barcelona) &
Gaudi sights
Companion-spending time with cousin
Both of us -relaxation & Spanish cultural vibe.

I may or may not be alone in Barcelona
We may or may not have a car for the inbetween 5 days.
I would love to go to France- but just across border.-Colliure - not sure if best use of time considering time of year. Already have been to Carcassonne & twice to Dordogne around Sarlet/Bergerac.

If you haven't already done so, buy some good guidebooks, or consult them at your local library. For some insights about timing, you might check my trip report -- just click on my screen name to find it. Enjoy!

I have read thru it fast (couldn't help myself).
I will go back when I have a bit more time so that I can click on the links you so thourghly provided.
I love planning and have utilized a few of the standard guide books but was looking for personal stories like you provided.

Seville is kind of really out of the way for a trip that is bookended by Mallorca and Barcelona.
There is a ferry from Mallorca to both Barcelona and Valencia. I haven't been to Mallorca or Valencia, so don't know if Valencia would appeal to you or not. But you can get a direct train from Valencia to Madrid that only takes 2 hrs, and then the fast train from Madrid to Barcelona. If you've never been to Spain before, I'd just go to Madrid for those in-between days. You can do a day trip to Toledo from there, if you want. This will be a different ambience than Barcelona or Mallorca and get you a taste of a different part of the country. Lots to do in Madrid with museums, markets, parks, etc., and 4-5 days would be great for Madrid and Toledo. that would be an easy trip without a car.
That's what I would do as long as I was in Spain and had never been there before. Of course you could do Seville and that area, but it is more out of the way in this itinerary. I don't even know how easily you get there from Valencia, I thought there were problems on that train line, but maybe not -- it's about 4-5 hours by train. Then you'd have to take the train all the way from Sevilla to Barcelona or something (or you could fly). I just think Madrid fits in better, but you could do either.
But if you really want to go to France, just take the ferry to Barcelona. YOu can get a nonstop train from Barcelona to, say, Montpellier in southern France that only takes 3 hrs, less time than the train from Valencia to Seville. It goes through Narbonne and Perpignan (and Figueres and Girona in Spain). There is a train from one of those to Collioure if you really want to go there. But with 4-5 days you could spend a few in Montpellier, then maybe stop in one of those others on the way back to Spain (or Collioure if you really want to go there), and include your Dali visit in Figueres on that route in Spain before getting to Barcelona. I guess it depends what your interest is, Collioure is basically Catalan, even if in France.

There are hardly no better place for "Spanish cultural vibe" than majestic and fun Madrid, only 2h 30 mins with the high speed AVE train from Barcelona, city center to city center: http://www.esmadrid.com/en
