FF miles- can I get credit now?

I booked our trip to Italy via Orbitz; US Airways to Venice, then Alitalia from Rome to Newark, Continental home. I would like to get credit for miles on my US Airways portion. Can I do that? If so, how? I am sure this is a stupid question but I just was so excited at finding flights at less than $1000 that I pulled the trigger without thinking of this part. Appreciate ya!

I don't see why not. I believe you can give them your US Airways number when you check in at the airport.

You should be able to call US Airways with the flight information and have them put your Dividend Miles number in. Word of caution, US Air just transitioned their website to include America West and it is in deep trouble with the transition. That being said, you may encounter long waits or CSRs not knowing what to do. Be persistant and keep calling until you get results.

If all else fails, when you check in at the airport the agent can put you number in. Make sure you keep your boarding pass in case the miles don't show up in your account and then call Dividend Miles Center after the fact to get the miles.

If you prefer to earn UA Mileage Plus miles or AC Aeroplan or other Star Alliance FF miles, you can also do that. You're not limited to US's Dividend Miles program.

Call US Airways and ask them.

Although it wasn't US Airways, my husband bought tickets for domestic travel on Orbitz and when I tried to get mileage credit (admittedly after the fact but with boarding passes) the airline refused because the ticketed fare did not "qualify." It was a very cheap fare, but I couldn't get the airline (American) to tell me whether the problem was booking on Orbitz or the fare. It just didn't "qualify."

Good luck to you!
