Ferry schedule Sorrento/Capri/Positano or vv

I am trying to get an idea of times and frequency for these ferries. We would like to spend the day exploring Capri either on the way to or from Positano. Can anyone assist?

The boats are not "ferries" running to a set schedule, but should be regarded as excursion veseels catering to tourist demand. There are regular all-year services to Capri from Napoli and Sorrento, though these are much reduced out of season. Services from Positano are entirely dependent on weather and circumstances, and schedules will vary with the tourist season. In summer, it's easy to do a day trip to Capri from Positano, Sorrento or Napoli; it would be easy, for example, to get a morning boat from Positano to Capri, then return to Napoli in the evening.

metrodelmare.com has ferry routes but I don't think they have the spring/summer times listed yet. The ferries returning from Capri don't run very late - usually not much past 6 or 7.

Hi angel,

In Sept 2003 the schedule was

Positano - Capri
09.10 - 10.00 - 11.45 - 14.20 - 15.45 - 18.00
Capri - Positano 11.40 - 16.25 - 17.00 - 18.40 - 19.15

Price 10 E

I don't have the Sorrento/Capri schedule, but your hotel will have it.

Well Ira, it only goes to show that schedules can change at the drop of a hat! My Metrodelmare schedule, also from 9/03, has different times than yours. One of us would have missed the boat if we followed the other's advice. :D

angel, if you use the search box and type in "ferry schedule Sorrento" you'll come up with a wealth of information from this forum. Also, you don't say when you are visiting, but if it's during high season, allow PLENTY of time to buy your ticket. My husband and I never got to Capri while we were staying in Sorrento. The lines were too long and weren't able to get on the boat (and it was full anyway).
