Ferry recs Split-Brac-Dubrovnik
Hi! We are staying a couple of nights in Split, then a couple in Brac (staying in Bol), and then on to Dubrovnik.
We don't plan to rent a car. This is in mid-June and there are four of us. I'm confused about what is the best way (Ferry? Catamaran? Which lines are best?) to get from Split to Bol in Brac, then to Dubrovnik. We'd plan on leaving in the morning each time, as we will need to check out of our hotel. It would be great if we could be outside during the water travel, but that's not a must. How far in advance should we get our tix? Thanks! |
Unless there has been drastic changes with services and options (doubtful) both companies offer pretty much the same service (in terms of length of time and amenties on board). Some prefer slower car ferries to catamarans so you can go outside. Me, personal preference, is schedule. Neither really is "better" than the other, in my opinion. YMMV
https://www.jadrolinija.hr/en https://www.krilo.hr/en/ I personally recommend getting advanced tickets partly because of how busy they can get. In June you might be ok to get tickets a day or two ahead of time. But I am absolutely someone who prefers to have their ducks in row ahead of travel so I purchase well in advance. |
One other point, depending on line, you may not have much options for Bol. Not sure, I do not have each schedule memorized. I'd just see what works best for you and decide that way. But again, point is the same, you're not going to be gaining anything, really, by choosing one over another.

Enjoy your trip! |
The information above is correct. You don’t need to buy tickets way in advance, but I wouldn’t wait until the day you are traveling. Especially for the journey to Dubrovnik. It’s wise to check prices on journeys - Jadrolinija has to keep prices lower for one “commuter” journey per day from Split to Bol, so for one journey you pay 23 euros and on another 9.70. For me that is worth booking Jadrolinija from Split to Bol.. Another is, I can’t see a way to book online to Bol on Krilojet. The only option for online booking (unless I am blind) is to the port of Milna. You could wait until you arrive in Split to buy in the ticket office or contact Krilo by email about it, if their times look better to you.
