Ferry or bus to Positano

I have been advised that it is much nicer to arrive in Positano via Ferry instead of travelling by bus. Can anyone confirm this? thanx

Hi

Arriving from where? I've done the bus trip from Sorrento to Positano - beautiful scenery. I'd like to try the ferry next time.

This recent post may help re ferry possibilities - http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34926257

Most likely from Naples - I think.

We've always driven the coast in our own car so I can't comment specifically on the bus or ferry, but I would think the ferry would be a lovely way to arrive to Positano.

Having done both I'd say yes, the hydrofoil (not ferry) from Naples is much pleasanter. Check the Mtro del Mare website, but... what time of year ?

The last 2 years (in June) we hoped to get the Metro del Mare from Naples to Positano, but it didn't start running when scheduled & nobody when we arrived could tell us when it would start running. The story seems to be that each winter their Positano dock gets damaged by storms and needs to be repaired. The first year we were there it still hadn't started by the time we left, on 2nd July. Last year it started the very day we left, 17th June.
