Ferry or air Athens to Santorini

We will be travelling to Nafplio from Athens for three nights then returning to Athens and leaving for Santorini the same day. Are we better to go to Athens airport and fly to Santorini or go to Piraeus and take the ferry? I'm a little concerned about getting from Nafplio to Athens in time for flights or ferries as we will be travelling from Nafplio by Ktel bus. Thanks for any recommendations.

You don't say when you are going, and from what I understand, the ferries don't run as often in the off season.

Although ferries will be cheaper and will offer more choices (in high season anyway), Santorini is a loong way from Athens/Piraeus via ferry, up to 9 hours (or 5 hours by high-speed, which of course costs more). For that reason, I chose to fly on Aegean air for my trip in May (45 minutes, 38 euros). Both Aegean and Olympic offer flights from Athens-Santorini. Check the times and see if that will work with your schedule.

Thanks, I was leaning towards flying and you've confirmed it.

Fly if you can. The ferry takes forever, and it can be a bumpy ride. I speak from experience!
