Ferry, Naples to Palermo
 

Anyone have any experience or knowledge about the overnight ferry from Naples to Palermo? Thanks............Mary

There are two companies both running ships every night (www.tirrenia.it and www.snav.it). Tirrenia's ships are newer so probably have better accommodation, though I've not been on the SNAV ships. The Tirrenia ships are also slightly faster: when I travelled from Palermo in December, the SNAV ship left before us and arrived in Napoli later (though arriving at 0700 may be preferable to arriving at 0630 as you get an extra half hour in bed). Your choice may depend on which ship has suitable accommodation available for the night you're travelling.

Thank you for your information. I looked at the sites and saw something about breakfast on the ferry. Do you actually get off the ferry at 6:30am?
I haven't seen 6:30am for along time.

We took the Tirrenia ferry in the opposite direction; yes you can expect to get off very early. We forgot to set our alarm and had someone knocking on our door to get us out. It was around 7 am when we got off the ship in Naples; the rest of the passengers had already disembarked and ours was the only car left in the hold.
