Dear Sandra
May I suggest that you repost, giving a more specific heading eg - "ferries from southampton to France, help needed."
Then those OPs with specialist knowledge will be able to help and you won't miss the ones who couldn't be bothered to find out what your specific query is.
As a first step, you could google "ferries from Southampton" - that should help.

Southampton and other southern port towns like Portsmouth and Weymouth have regular ferry service to Oustreham (near Caen and D-Day stuff), Le Havre or Cherbourg - as well as some Brittany ports. Night ferries as well. Quickest service in day is about 3 hours. Fares run from 29 euros and up and up. (Last year i showed up without a ticket in Caen and could have bought a 29 euro ticket from Cherbourg but couldn't get there in time for last day boat so ended up paying about 90 euro for night Oustreham-Portsmouth boat.
buses links Oustreham port to Caen train station.

Try www.flybe.com for cheap flights from Southampton to a number of French airports.

owain beat me to it - I was just going to suggest www.flybe.com

Southampton has a very nice little airport, and you can get flights to many places in France. While I don't think flybe actually go to Paris, my daughter has flown to Paris from SOU so there are other airlines. Check out the airport website at

There are no ferries from Southampton to France, but Brittany Ferries run from both Portsmouth and Poole to France. Both ports are less than an hour from Southampton by train, though you'll need to take a taxi from the stations to the ferry terminals.
