Ferry from St Petersburg to Tallinn, Estonia?

We are planning an independent 8-day trip to St Petersburg next September. My friend says we should take a couple of day off and go to Tallinn, Estonia. Does any one know if there is a ferry going there from StPB ? And if we were to go to Tallinn, could we re-enter Russia with our original Russian visa? Thanks for your help.

There are currently no ferries from St Peterburg to Tallinn.

You would need a double entry visa or new visa to return into Russia.

mimifromgeorgia,

there in fact is ferry service between Tallinn and St. Petersburg:
Finnish Silja Line offers a route from Rostock (Germany) via Tallinn to St. Petersburg. The ship is GTS Finnjet which is one of the fastest ferries in the world. It is a bit dated, but very safe, well maintained and reasonably comfortable. Their captain's buffet is actually great.

Take a look at:

http://www.silja.fi/PRICES/One-way%2...;x=12&y=10

for further information.

Sorry, I'd overlooked Silja's FINNJET. In September, the ship leaves St-Peterburg at 2000 on the 1st and every four days until 21 September. Returning sailings from Tallinn are at 1900 on 4 September and every four days until the 20th. In both directions, it's an overnight journey.

Thanks for all your good information. Because of having to obtain another visa I think it is better that we stay in St Petersburg, and I am sure that 8 days is not too much time there anyway. Thanks again for your answers.
