ferry from Gdansk to Kaliningrad

Has anyone gone from Gdansk/Elblag to Kaliningrad on the ferry? I'm trying to get some information. Wondering about the length of trip, cost, scheduling - can you get to Elblag from Gdansk in time to catch a ferry the same day. I'm going in August by the way. Any information would be a big help. Did you need a visa for a day trip?

The shipping company is Zegluga Gdanska (www.zegluga.pl). Their web site has schedules and fares for 2006. Their hydrofoil goes from Elblag at 0730, Krynica Morska 0830 and Frombork 0930, and returns from Kaliningrad in the evening. The fare is 35 euros one way, or 45 euros for a day return (coming back the same day). Much of the web site is only in Polish, but I'm pretty sure you need a visa to land in Kaliningrad.
They also do duty-free shopping trips to Baltiysk, but these don't actually land in Russia.
