Ferry from Dingle to Doolin

Can anyone confirm how long it takes to get from Dingle to Doolin using the ferry? I'm assuming drive time to Tralee would be about an hour, but I just dont know how long the ferry is, or how long it takes to go from the ferry to Doolin/COM. Is it worth it to do the ferry or is it process to get on/off it with the car?
What is the difference between using the ferry and going the conner pass in terms of # of hours? thanks!

Both www.viamichelin.com and www.aaroadwatch.ie give an estimated driving time of three hours. IMO, you'll need to add another hour to that. (Driving times in Ireland are slow, particularly on secondary roads.) And if you stop to admire the view, take a walk, and have lunch in a pub, it will take even longer.

For information on the ferry across the Shannon River, go here: http://www.shannonferries.com.

If the weather is clear when you first drive to Dingle, take the route over Connor Pass then. It may be fogged in when you leave town.

I forgot to comment on the ferry ride. It's short, simple, and definitely the way to go.

Actually, the Connor Pass originates (or terminates, depending upon your orientation)in Dingle Town. It is well worth a drive (with a stop at the lay-by at the top)either during, or before your departure to Doolin.

The Shannon Ferry saves having to drive all the way East to Limmerick City, before heading back West, to get back to the coast.
