Ferry from Capri to Sorrento

Can anyone tell me how long it takes to go by ferry from Capri to Sorrento? We are supposed to meet a guide at the ferry landing at 10:00am. At what time should we leave Capri?

virgo,,

I just got back on Thurs from the area.

It takes only about 20 minutes on the hydrofoil to get to Sorrento from Capri, so time yourself from there.

Have a ball!

However, the aliscafi (hydrofoil) does not always run on time or on schedule. I had a ticket for the 8:30 am departure. It never showed. Finally another one came at 9:30 am. I waited while I watched various other boat carrying ferries and medium sized boats come and go.....

It may have been due to rough seas. The ride was very scary and we were nearly thrown out of our seats.

Take the boat.

Thank you both for your replies. I was a little worried about the hydrofoil. We are traveling with my aged parents, and they are none too steady on their feet. How much longer does it take on the boat?

Virgo - There's only about 10 mins difference between ferry and hydrofoil crossing time as it's such a short distance.

virgo,

the trip is so short, your parents will be fine.

Our hydrofoil was virtually empty so we could spread out. The foil we had was really comfy with couches and tables that actually if we weren't so excited about arriving in Sorrento, I could have stayed on the the foil longer it was so nice.

your parents will be fine, just get them seated and they will be fine. bring some water ( actually they sell it it on board too)and make sure they just stay hydrated.
