Ferry from Amsterdam to London.
I heard that there is a ferry which goes from Amsterdam to London. Where does one catch the ferry and how long does it take?
|
You can take a ferry from Harwich (north east of London, about 50 miles) to the Hook of Holland (south of Amsterdam). I think there are 4 crossings a day (2 are fast through the day and take about 3 and a half hours, the others are through the night and take about 6 hours). The service is operated by Stena line (stenaline.com). There is also a service from Newcastle (in the north of England) to Amsterdam with DFDS, but this is clearly not convenient for London.

There are no ferries from Amsterdam to London.
You have the choice of taking a ferry from Hoek van Holland (90 km South West of Amsterdam) to Harwich in England, or from IJmuiden (30 km West of Amsterdam) to Newcastle in England.

And there is rail service on both ends..from Amsterdam to Hoek (through Rotterdam)and from Harwich to London (Liverpool Street)

You may want to check into taking a flight. The last time I was there (3 years ago), we were able to get a flight to Amsterdam for almost the same amount as the train, and the flight it took less than an hour.

Try these sites:

www.easyjet.com
www.ryanair.comwww.europebyair.com
www.flybmi.com
www.che apflights.com
