Ferry from Amalfi to Greek Islands

I'm just starting to look into planning our honeymoon for June 2007. We'd really love to do the Amalfi coast and Greek Islands. I've been told there is a ferry from Amalfi to the GI's....anyone heard of this?

Hard to believe from Amalfi but perhaps from Naples, which is another story.

I googled Greek Ferries and found service from Ancona, Bari, Brinidisi, Trieste, and Venice. Take a look and to get more info.

I'm fairly sure that the only ships from Amalfi to Greece will be cruise ships, not ferries per se. You'll need to make your way to the east coast of Italy to one of the port cities 'chatham' mentioned for a ferry across to Greece. Here's a link to the website for these ferries:

http://www.greekferries.gr/

You'll take one of these ferries across to either Patras or Igoumenitsa, and then a bus to Athens/Piraeus where you can catch a Greek ferry to whichever island group you've targeted. Use www.gtp.gr for the most comprehensive list of ferries for the islands, but be advised that this website usually only posts timetables about a month in advance of the current date.
