Try www.seafrance.co.uk and www.poferries.com. Fares vary a great deal according to the time, date and other circumstances.

Hi

I use : http://www.ferrysavers.com

Costs vary according to season, time of crossing, duration of trip etc.

There are offers for daytrips, weekend trips and 5 day trips. Also one - off deals are advertised in UK local newspapers, etc.

I used it over Xmas (Dec 22 to 27 ......... not the cheapest time !) and paid GBP175 return for a car with 4 passengers.

A 5 day return with 2 passengers in February would be GBP 110 to GB145.

The tunnel was much more expensive at the time I travelled, but you can check it on the same site.

Peter
http://tlp.netfirms.com
Jinx - do you REALLY want to ferry a car to France? It is fairly expensive - BUT the main reason to reconsider is, your UK rental car will be right hand drive and on the contineent you will be driving on the right so you will be on the "wrong side of the car". Brits successfully do this all the time - but you will be double converting - US mind-set in a UK car driving back on the US side of the road. Prescription for disaster. Why don't you take the ferry as foot passengers - VERY inexpensive - and then rent a car in Calais?

My reason for inquiring is that I am considering leasing a Peugeot from Kemwell this summer. If I pick it up and return it at Heathrow - London, there is a charge of $420 ($210 on each end). If I pick the car up in Calais, France, there is no charge.
However, due to the ferry expenses, it looks like a wash -- I'll be better off going the Heathrow route.
Thanks for your help.

Regards,

Jinx Hoover
