Ferry between Italy and Greece
Is anyone familiar with the ferry/boat system between the east side of Italy and Greece??

Any information would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

Yes--it takes 2 days to get there, and then you are only in Athens. It you have tons of time, and a rail pass, it makes some sense. I would fly. Combining Italy and Greece never made much sense to me---I see them as seperate and different destinations.

Amanda,
We did this trip a couple of years ago leaving Venice around 5:00p.m. and arriving in Patras at approx. 8:00a.m the second morning. The line has a very nice bus that takes you to Athens.
We traveled on the Minoan Line.
http://www.minoan.gr/
The price is very reasonable and the accomodations are also good. They have a variety of accomodations available and two or three resturants on board from plain to fancy.
Fare is for transportation only.
Ships are very nice.
Would do it again.

Hello Amanda,

Where do you want to sail from?
The main ferry service is from Brindisi, from where there are services to Corfu, Patras, Igoumenitsa, Paxos, Cefalonia, Zante ...
As well as standard ferry services there are also high-speed services from there to Corfu.

Other services operate from Bari and Ancona as well as Venice.

There is also a high season service from Otranto near Lecce I believe.

Let me know if I can be of more help ...

Steve
