Ferries to Santorini

We are staying on Crete for 10 days in a couple of weeks. Just curious, is it worth taking a ferry ride to Santorini? And does anybody know about how much that will cost? This is just a one day trip, no overnight (although I'd like to).

Depending on when you want to travel, the trip from Heraklion to Santorini can take as little as 1 3/4 hours by Flying Dolphin for about 28 Euros, which is the only practical method for a day trip. The car ferries are too slow. Here is a link to the Hellas Flying Dolphin website:

Brotherlee:
Is that 28 euros one way? Or roundtrip?

One Way.

My two favourite islands are Crete (western Crete in particular) and Santorini. I would go for at least one night. It is a beautiful island.
