Ferries in Croatia
I will be in Split & Dubrovnik in mid sept (9/16-9/24) & i wanted to visit Hvar, Brac & Korcula. I have looked on the jadrolinija site, but found it to be a little confusing. It looks like i can't go to Hvar & Brac for a just a day trip from Split. The timetables look like they run late in the afternoon. Also, from Dubrovnik to Korcula...is a day trip feasible or should i stay overnight? If so, any hotel recommendations. Thanks for any info !!!

There are a couple agencies that offer day trips from Dubrovnik to Korcula - via bus. Also - in the new Conde Nast Traveler there is a story about various islands, including Hvar.

I know that Hvar can be sometimes difficult to get too because of the time schedules. I would think Brac would have more options. Perhaps you can try looking at the timetables leaving from Makarska ?? Makarska is about a 45 min. drive south of Split.

Which town on Korcula are you going to go too? Vela Luka? Korcula town??

Nina

I'm not sure yet, wherever there is a nice beach. I though I would decide that nce I get to Split. We will be staying at the Hotel Slit & was hoping maybe they have some excursions. What do you recommend?

It's easy to do a day trip from Split to Hvar as there are several ferries a day, but the ship goes to Stari Grad rather than Hvar town. The Stari Grad ferry terminal is about a mile from the town of Stari Grad, but there are connecting buses to the main towns on the island waiting on the quayside. The bus to Hvar town takes about half an hour. Returning from Hvar, the times are listed in the bus station: the ferry quay is listed as "Stari Grad Trajekt" where "trajekt" means "ferry". For the island of Brac, ferries run frequently from Split to the town of Supetar and again there are connecting buses to other parts of the island.

Carla:
Ive been to Korcula town. It is very small and cute. Havent been to a beach there, so I couldnt recommend any.

Perhaps you can contact one of these tourist agencies and see if they have more information, they both offer excursions as well.

www.atlas.hr
www.gulliver.hr
Stari Grad on Hvar is very nice. Hvar has beautiful beaches. If would definitely recommend overnighting it there if you can. Oh, and I have to mention, Trajekt literally means car ferry. You can still go on it without a car, but just so you know if you have a car if they call it a Trajekt you can take it.

Nina
