Parochial, no, shouldn't think you'd need to do that. And, maybe Cornish pasties would be an even better idea. Something to nibble on if the food is off the night you're there.

Bedar: Which restaurants have you chosen in Paris?

Bedar Mar 2nd, 2014 02:57 PM

Eks, le Grand Vefour, le Cinq, Joel Robuchon, and l'Astrance. Others were on our list, but a lot of reviews were SO bad that they got scotched, even tho' the reviews are looked at with a great deal of scepticism. In AMS, all Indonesian ones. In Belgium, who knows. One trip between Brussels and Paris we stopped in some town for lunch and in a Greek restaurant had some frites that were totally incredible. We three all said WHAT are these ? We may hunt for that town and those frites !

Sounds great!!!! I wish I could come along!

I DO need to google ROTFLMAO, but on 2nd thoughts I won't bother.

Bedar - le cinq is a great choice. we had a sunday lunch there a few years ago and even though we were not dressed up to the nines,[being en route from the Monet exhibition at the Grand Palais to The Marmottan in the 18th], the service, and the food were 2nd to none. I hope that they are still doing their seaweed butter - I think i could have eaten just that and died happy.

vulgar, I suspect

only suspect, bilbo?

I'd put money on it.

Annhig, your report on Le Cinq was one of the ones that made me go for it ! Lunch and a visit to the American Cathedral down the street where my daughter was christened. Always try to get some personal history into these trips.

That's nice, Bedar. What a lovely idea to go back to the place where your DD was christened.

a word of warning - the wine was pretty expensive and in fact the bottles were quite reasonably priced compared to single glasses. but the ambiance is incomparable.
