Fees for private tours in Rome

I'm probably going to use Scala Reale next year for a private tour of the major sites in Rome. They don't have their schedule or rates yet. Even if you didn't use them, can you please tell me what you paid and how long your tour lasted?

March 01: The Vatican/St. Peter's tour and the Colosseum/Forum/Palatine were both 4hrs and they charge (regardless of the Lira exchange) $50US. They have some shorter (3hrs) and cheaper ($40) of other sites IIRC. HTH Regards, Walter
Walter, were these private tours?

Tammy Aug 19th, 2001 03:14 PM

Walter,

One other thing, is that a per person price?

Walter Aug 19th, 2001 03:30 PM

Tammy: Sorry, I should have read your post more carefully, you did say a *private* tour. The $50 is per person on the *semi-private* tours (6 people or less). Regards, Walter
Private tours typically run around USD50 per hour, for small groups, usually limited to, say, six or eight, with a supplement for added persons. I've seen rates as low as USD40.

Less-experienced guides may charge less. I'm not sure I've seen higher than about USD50. Cars, drivers and so forth are extra.

twenj
