My comments refer to my stay a few years ago. When I first visited London, I got a package which included the St. Ermins Hotel. I was a little nervous at first because I couldn't find anything about this hotel. However, once we got there, I was pleasantly surprised.

The hotel is right around the corner from St. James Park Tube Station. It's actually katty-corner from New Scotland Yard. The hotel was very well-maintained when we were there and the rooms were actually bigger than we expected. (Granted, we were told to expect shoe-box-sized rooms in London.)
The hotel is part of the Stakis chain of hotels, and also affiliated with Hilton Hotels. When I was there, they had an electric tea kettle in the room. They also offered breakfast w/ our stay.

It's in a very central location, near Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace. There are pubs and shops nearby. The post office was right across the street from the hotel. There's a bar in the hotel, as well.

I was just in London last week and tried to switch hotels (from my awful Quality Hotel South Kensington to the St. Ermins). However, the St. Ermins was booked up. The lobby is undergoing some renovation right now. Other than that, it looked to be kept in good condition.
