Feedback on London Dungeon??

I will be taking my 18 yr old son to London in a few weeks & was wondering if this was worth doing?? We'll only be there for 3 days.

No! (It probably wouldn't be worth it even if you were there three weeks)

There is soooooooo much to see/do in London - don't waste your money at the Dungeon . . . . .

I havent been to the dungeon because of bad reports I have seen on it in the past. Someone described it as a cheesy haunted house and there are better ones at halloween back home. If your son is into dungeons you might go to Madame Tussauds Wax museum. I don't know if they still do but when I went years ago they had a dungeon of horrors.

I get squimmish just viewing the torture devices on display at various castles we've visited. I know I couldn't handle the London Dungeon.

From different things I've heard, it seems to be more popular with teens than adults, so your son might like it. But with only three days in London, there are so many other worthwile things to see and do. He can get some gruesome tales at the Tower of London - and maybe take London Walks Jack the Ripper Walk instead. :)

..I have gone with pre teens. A real low point! Poorly done and strictly for the tourist trade..a real waste of time and money.

my then 10 year old son hated it. Take a scary walk or drinks in a good pub. Don;t wast your money or time

Thanks for the advice...with so little time I'm glad to know that I shouldn't waste it on this.

Don't waste your time nor money on this tourist flytrap.

Spend it on something worthwhile and uniquely London, this is nonsense.

It used to be good until about 8 years ago when they took out all the wax exhibits and information and put in a cheesy ride. As mentioned, just a tourist trap now.

mhdavidson Apr 5th, 2005 03:39 AM

Yes, it may be cheesy but my wife and I (no kids) had fun for the hour or so we spent there. We have even visited the other Dungeons in Edinburgh and York as well (4th one in Hamburg, Germany) and even bought the souvenir photo with her chopping my head off in the stocks. I think it may be too 'young' for an 18 year old however...

There are REAL dungeons in the Tower of London...and the Tower should be on your 3-day "must see" list, in my opinion.

The London Dungeon is the epitome of a tacky tourist trap (opinion, again, of course).

It has no authenticity, it was built strictly as a theme-park kind of attraction. The Yeoman Warder tours at the Tower can supply some grisly detail that is authentic.

One of the worst tourist traps I've every experienced. Even the kids I was with (approx ages 6 and 9)didn't like it

Your 18 year old son won't be the least bit interested. Now if he were ten years younger, as was my son when we went, that would be a different story. Common consensus among adults is that the place is cheesy and a waste of time.
