boat trip on seine

Hello, all. I would like to take a boat trip on the Seine while in Paris. I heard there was one that you could get on and off. Also, is there one that goes near Sacre Coeur so that we could get off and visit?

The on-and-off boats go up and down the Seine, stopping at specific landings; they're a nice way to get around. But since the river doesn't go anywhere near Sacré Coeur (it's way up on a hill), you couldn't get there by boat--as far as I know, anyway.

As for the cruises, those are given by Bateaux Mouches and Vedettes de Paris. Your hotel can tell you where they dock, and usually there's a boat leaving about every hour. You don't need reservations.

Take the Pont Neuf river cruise at sunset. Do dinner afterwords. You will not regret it.

Thank you all so much. I'm too excited! Budman, do you have any thoughts on where to go for dinner?

When are you going, when is sunset, how much do you want to spend, and where are you staying will all depend upon what restaurant you will want to eat in.

There are lots of restaurant threads and lots of Paris experts who can help you.

The BatOBus is on/off but there is no commentary. It's simply a bus on the water. If you want someone to tell you what you are seeing, take one of the tour boats. If you just want a neat ride, take the BatOBus.

If you take the tour boat, don't get a meal on the boat. You want to look at the sights, not the food (which I'm told isn't that great anyway).

Have a great trip.

We took the Bateaux Mouches premier dinner cruise. It started with a champagne reception, proceeded with a very very good 5 course dinner, and ended three hours later with a moonlight cruise on the Seine. The food was excellent on a par with two other 4 star dinners we had. Highly recommended. Cost today about $190 for 2.

Why am I sceptical?

Michelin stars only go to three.

Good evening all.
Thanks for all of your advice. I think I'll do the Pont Neuf boat ride at sunset (it's somewhat near our hotel), then catch dinner again, somewhere near the hotel, when we get back. I'd love to do a fabulous dinner, but I know the effect would be lost on my 13year old. I'll wait to do the multi-star and romantic stuff for a trip sometime in the future.
Again, thanks to all.
