February in Europe?

I am trying to decide how to spend a week in February in Europe. I am considering Greece (Athens and Islands, maybe Italy. Any suggestions for that time of year?

Rome was lovely this past Feb..never wore more than a sweater or ruana..but who can say for sure where weather is concerned

I agree--Rome last Feb. was great, with warm sunny days and practically no tourists (obviously one other Fodorite was there!).

I too would recommend you Italy and Rome. It is a nice period with less tourists around and it would be easier for you to catch the roman flavor. If you are interested, have a look at some a nice new small hotel on the website www.caesarhouse.com

I spent February 2002 with a group in Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast. We began in Rome, bused to Sorrento and then after 8 days we were bused to Montecatini for 9 days and then back to Rome. The weather was beautiful for most of the tour. This tour is offered in 2003 by Grand Circle Travel.

I spent a wonderful week in Madeira last February, the weather was sunny and warm, only a few very short and light showers. A wonderful trip, our second to Madeira and certainly not our last.

Depends on what kind of interests you have, and perhaps, what places in Europe you have already visited.

Kavey
