Feb. Trip
Hi All!
I need some advice, the wife and I were given a trip to Ireland, flying into Dublin for what is essentially 4 days. We'll arrive Feb 8th at 8:30am and department around Mid Afternoon on Thursday Feb 12th. It essentially gives us 3.5 Days to get quick glimpse of Ireland. Should be we plan to just stay in Dublin and the surrounding area for those days to get our initial taste of the country? The wife is interested in the shopping for sure. Does anyone have any sugestions for the 4 days we're there? I'd love to hear them, this is our first trip to Europe!! Please feel free to email me! Thanks, Kevin |
When you say you were given a "trip" does that mean just air tickets? Or did you also get tansfers, hotels etc?
You could easily spend that time in Dublin with a day trip by bus. But it really depends on what you're locked into - and what your interests are? Do you prefer countryside to cities? Museums? Theater? Pubs? Historical sights? |
We've got RT Tickets into Dublin, and we've got accomidations at the Grafton House, Guesthouse in City Centre. I really don't have any preferences at this point, I do know that we won't have car access, so I'm thinking Day trips out of Dublin, maybe to Malahide Castle or somewhere DART accessible? Any suggestions?

well - in Feb the weather may be OK or absolutely awful. So, I'd just play it by ear. If it is at all decent, you can take one or two day trips. Otherwise, just hunker down in Dublin pubs, shops and museums.

Get out of Dublin some or you won't get a feel for the heart of the country. Dublin is a busy city. It has wonderful things to do and see. I have stayed in Dublin twice and enjoyed it. However, we have gone to Ireland 5 times, but only went to Dublin twice. I prefer the countryside and the villages. Ride the rail service either to the north or south. See if you can hire a taxi to give you a Wicklow mountains tour. See Powerscourt in Wicklow area. The gardens are beautiful and the shopping there is quality. Lots Irish handmade items.
