Feb airfare to Edinburgh
 

I was amazed I was able to get a beautiful timeshare unit for 7 nights, really lush, The Edinburgh Residence, centrally located, for my $189 timeshare exchange fee.

What a bargain I'm thinking.

However, travelocity is showing the cheapest airfare from Seattle in February, leaving Thursday, returning Saturday (which I have to do) to Edinburgh to be $821. There was one for $709, but you'd have to leave the Edinburgh airport at 6:00 am.

My question is this an at all reasonable airfare Seattle to Edinburgh for Feb, the low season, considering the weekend rates?

I like to take care of things NOW, but is it likely sales will come up in January for weekend rates? Or will the price just go higher?

That is a bit high. Look for low 600s and hope for even lower. Also search Glasgow as well as Edinburgh.

I would wait a few more weeks, but not until January.

Arrrgh! I have a 24 hour hold on this property so have to decide if those fares will come down! I just couldn't pay that price for a Feb departure. Isn't budget travel fun? I can go to London or Paris for $400.00 something so will have to think. The Ryan Air and other discount flyers are such a hassel transporting through London after a transatlantic flight. Oh well, thanks for the response!

BA will get you to Edinburgh and back from LHR for around $125.

I think you can take a train from London for under $100 and it looks like it takes about 4 1/2 hours. That might be less hassel and time than flying.

Try going in to London a day early then tak a cheap Ryan Air flight out of Stanstead. Ryanair.com

$567 on American (still with MRTC - for now) to Gatwick via Dallas; $117 RT on British from LGW to Edinburgh, so $684 all in. Book the SEA-LGW portion through AA.com and the EDI link through your favorite online service. If you try SEA-EDI on AA.com it comes back at $769.

I will do most anything to avoid LHR if for no other reason than the UK airport taxes are higher there than other airports.

Shifting from LHR to STN is a major pain, not really easy at all for transatlantic connections, and by car service (the fastest and most convenient way - public transport takes hours) costs upwards of £80, thereby negating the savings on the low cost carriers. If you want to sample LCC life on this trip, though, you can fly to AMS on the nonstop from SEA then try Easyjet directly to EDI - $570 SEA-AMS, €50 or so each way AMS-EDI. Schedules might not hook up for the transatlantic segments, though.

FYI, Easyjet has four flights a day from Gatwick to Edinburgh, starting at 6.99 GBP per person each way plus taxes.

also look into BMI for good prices. flybmi.com. they fly out of heathrow!
