FCO Taxi question
Does anyone know if Termini is within the Aurelian walls for purposes of the fixed rate taxi's?
Thanks for the help. |
Yes, it is. If you're going to Termini station to catch a train, it would make sense to take the Leonardo Express train from the airport instead of a taxi. The fare is €14, and it's usually just as fast, or faster if you don't have to wait long for the train.

I say splurge and get a shuttle service like Rome Shuttle Limousine from FCO. The walk to the train is a pain and I have not had great experiences with FCO taxi drivers. Especially if you are coming in from a transatlantic flight, it's nice to be met and led to a car and relax. Shuttle cost is 45 euros.

If it is two or more-I would take a taxi or hired car service as you get picked up at the airport and taken straight to your hotel. You usually have to get a cab after getting off the Leonardo Express at the Termini station, and dealing with jet lag and your luggage-not the best times on a trip!
Cabs cannot charge more than 50 euros from FCO to city center-city rule. However, Rome Limo will meet you outside of baggage claim with your name card and usher you straight to your car! |
It is, and it costs €48 (not 50).

The set fee is 48€ for four people including luggage. That is for an official City of Rome taxi (Comune Roma on the side). Fiumicino (the airport is in Fiumicino) taxis can charge more (used to be 60€) because of needing to return to the city of Fiumicino. Rogue taxis charge what they want.
Rome Shuttle is 45€, but that is for 3 people (4-5 people is 55€). The shuttle bus to Termini is 5€. http://www.sitbusshuttle.com/en/fiumicino/ |
