Faxing the Vatican
Has anyone tried to fax the Vatican Tour Office directly. I can't seem to get through to them. I really don't know if I have a bad number or if I'm not doing something right.
|
I've never faxed them. If you post the number you're trying, someone can problem help to ensure you have the right format, or even the correct number.
|
Try email..
|
I wish I could email, but they don't accept that mode of communication.
I've been faxing 011 39 06 6988 5100 |
Someone in Rome has been faxing the Vatican Tour Office to get a reservation for me and reports he cannot get through, either. The line is always busy. He has been using the same number you posted.
Too bad they don't accept e-mail.... |
I have used the number you have tried. I've used it twice in the past week and have gotten through after a lot of busy signals. Works best very early in the a.m. I call around 6 or 7 a.m. from Virginia.
HOWEVER ! I haven't heard back from them, so I can only assume at this point that the fax went through. I think this is the most ridiculous way to do something that I have ever heard of. I feel like somewhere someone is laughing and we're on Candid Camera. |
They probably won't confirm your email until two to three days before your tour. That is what I've been hearing from friends.
|
I believe you may have to enlist the aid of a 'higher authority' to get thru to the Vatican.

I have also faxed that with much confusion at first...
it finally went through, and i added our hotel fax number on there since i heard they reply about 2-3 days prior. Hope that helps... |
I faxed the Office for Guided Tours on February 25, requesting a reservation for Tuesday, April 17. Since we were leaving for Italy on March 7, I asked them to confirm before March 6 to our Fax or that an e-mail or fax be sent to our hotel in Rome, were we would be arriving on April 14.
We did not receive a confirmation before we left on our trip nor was a confirmation sent to our hotel. On Monday, April 16, while visiting Saint Peter’s Basilica, my husband stopped at the information office right next door to the bookstore and there they gave him a telephone number we could call to make inquiries. We called the number and were advised that we did have reservations for Tuesday. When we arrived home on Wednesday night, lo and behold, there was the confirmation Fax, sent on April 14 to our house fax. I guess the moral of the story is not to give up. I’ll try to find the number we called and post it. By the way, the tour was excellent. |
I would be interested in the phone number. We didn't have any problem faxing the vatican, but we will probably be gone before we hear from them and we don't have a number in Rome as we are staying at an apartment without phone and we aren't bringing a cell phone.

The number we called was 06 69 88 46 76.
Hope this helps. |
Last year we wanted to reserve a tour of the Vatican Gardens, but unlike the Scavi tour, they will ONLY accept faxes. What's more your confirmation will ONLY be sent by fax and only 1 to 2 weeks before the date. Since we were traveling and staying in apartments, we had NO way to receive a fax and had to give up. I agree. Someone's on Candid Camera laughing at us. I'm surprised they dont' require all requests chiseled on a stone tablet and sent by pony express.

Thanks for the phone number. I'll give it a try in Rome if we don't hear anything before we leave.
