When faxing credit card numbers to Europe (I'm in California), should we be concerned about the time difference?<BR><BR>I'm assuming they're used to this, and turn the ringer off the phone, but I'm booking some farm stays, and don't want to wake anybody up.

I did a terrible faux pas recently - the fax number differed from the phone number, so I thought it was a separate line. Turns out it was one of those old style faxes where the person must pick up the phone first, then throw some sort of switch to have it go into fax mode. Aiieee, to hear someone say, "Allo? allo?" at what must have been some gawdawful hour in the morning.<BR><BR>

When in doubt, it's better to be safe than sorry. (If you fax around 7 or 8 am your time, I don't see a problem.) I had to do this last October, and that's what I did. (Although I live in the Eastern time zone, so when they got my fax it was more like 1pm their time instead of 4pm.<BR>Best Wishes,<BR>BC

Is there some reason why you can't do this during their regular business hours?

Thanks for the advise. I'll wait till morning to be safe.<BR><BR>(Just nervous about securing a reservation for high season, but I imagine a few hours will be ok.)

One reason you might not want to fax at night to a hotel is that the night staff might put it aside and the regular staff might never see it.
