some Fodorites stayed in Alfama and loved it...would not be my choice...
narrow, steep streets, atmospheric, a bit rough around the edges. |
If I were returning to Lisbon, I would stay around the Praca das Flores, which is quite "central" or in the Lapa district, which has good transportation connections

I stayed a few minutes from Placa do Marqes Pombal.
Close to the metro station...several stops to Chaido or a good walk down Avenida . next to a beautiful park, safe . |
Great tips. We are booked to stay near the castle in Alfama.

Hi Sandralist - why would you choose the Lapa district or the Praca das Flores area to stay in? any specific hotels or apts in those areas?
|
I stay just off the Praca Restauradores - super central and easy access to everywhere else.
|
Bom Jardim has a take out window where you can get one of their delicious chickens. Great for arrival night in your apartment.
|
Love their chicken, although I've never done take out. If you do take out, make sure you get PLENTY of sauce.
|
That chicken sounds like a great idea for the first night! I am thinking an apartment would be perfect for three adults - whereas if we go with a hotel we have to do two rooms. Do you have a specific apartment recommendation?
