Favorite Restaurants along the Amalfi Coast?
My wife and I will be spending a week in the area at the end of September and would like to know some of your favorite/can't miss restaurants. Thanks in advance!
|
Will you drive a car ?
If yes, follow me. In Cetara, ACQUAPAZZA www.acquapazza.it . In Tramonti, not along the Road Amalfi Coast, but on the hills, a delightful restaurant to enjoy the tru typical food different from seafood: CUCINA ANTICHI SAPORI www.cucinaantichisapori.it If you want suggestions also about Penisola Sorrentina, tell me, tell us. Enjoy. Ciao. Vincenzo |
There are so many Yummy places in and around the Amalfi coast.
Few weeks ago I wrote a post about Amalfi Slow Food Trattorias http://italytravelista.com/2009/06/f...-amalfi-coast/ and also one about what to do & eat in beautiful Capri http://italytravelista.com/2009/08/t...autiful-capri/ Hope you will enjoy it! Ciao Nancy Aiello |
Nancy:
All I see when I click on the names on your site are the websites of the individual restaurants. Did you write anything about your meals at the SlowFood places, or just link the websites? |
Good morning Ekscrunchy,
With regards to in & around Amalfi, over the last couple of years I visited those restaurants, matched them w/latest food guides including slow food, gambero rosso & gambero rozzo, and then made a list based on my personal taste including links to restaurants' homepage. When traveling I enjoy food a lot and love to share my experience with other fellow travelers, but I would be grateful to receive useful news & tips to update my list:-) Ciao Nancy Aiello |
Ok--maybe you can help me update my own list--I am headed for Ischia soon and am thinking of dining one night at Il Focolare. Can you tell me about your experiences there? Why do you recommend the restaurant?
Do you have any further tips for Ischia? |
Hi,
Il Focolare is the only certified Slow Food restaurant in Ischia well known for its coniglio all'ischitana (excellent), lamb & pork beside very nice pasta dishes. I love the location set in a luscious park surrounded by Chestnut trees. I also enjoy Lo Scoglio & il Pirata, both in Sant'Angelo. Hope you'll enjoy your trip to Italy:-) Nancy Aiello |
Hi Max - Two I always return to are:
- La Tagliata (- above Montepertuso) http://www.latagliata.com/ (Superb coastal views stretching as far as Capri (- Faraglioni) - Da Costantino (- upper Positano) http://www.dacostantino.com/inglese.htm (Best evenings. Book a window table for panoramic views over Positano as the lights come on ...) Also in Montepertuso, Donna Rosa and Il Ritrovo get good reviews (- no personal experience). Hope this helps ... Thanks for all the replies! Any suggestions for Rome near Trevi Fountain?
|
Hi
I second Steve's recommendation for Da Costantino. I grew up in an Italian kitchen and the gnocchi al sugo there was as good as Mamma's. Bookings essential. The view is spectacular and I would try to be there at sunset. |

Hi Max,
Good restaurants by the Trevi Fountains are: LE TAMERICI southern cuisine, IL CHIANTI good food including pizza, and ALL'Arancio on Vicolo Scanderberg serving tasty Roman fares. Buon Appetito |
