Leaving in 3 weeks for Paris. Need some help for good food, atmospheric restaurants in the 6th and 7th. Have tried the "search" function many times and it never seems to be working. I'm aware there are lots of posts on restaurants, I just can't seem to access them. <BR> <BR>Thanks for your help!

Chez Clement, L'Ecluse, La Fermette Marbeuf, Maison d'Alsace and upstairs at Hediard for dinners. Angelina's for lucnh or dessert. L'Aduree for lunch. Hope this helps! Also - go on Gourmet Magazine's website and search there for your own! Bon appetit!

Just returned from Paris and I loved the following: Brasserie Lipp- located in the 6th Arr., Aux Charpentier on Rue Marbouf in the 6th Arr., Rotisserie d'en Face in the Latin Quarter, and Au Chien de Fumar ( the Smoking Dog) which is in near Halles in the 2nd Arr.

Hi, I haven't been to this restaurant for a couple of years, but <BR>I have always loved Chez Julien <BR>(not the same place as "Julien"), which is in the 4th, on the corner of <BR>1 rue Ponte Louis Philippe and 62 rue Hotel de Ville, phone 01 42 78 31 64. <BR>The restaurant had a brief appearance in the film The Accidental Tourist. Closed Sun. Pretty traditional decor, traditional food, moderately priced a la carte (about $60 pp last time, with wine) but a <BR>less-expensive prix-fixe menu is also available. <BR>There have been previous threads on Paris restaurants--try doing a Search here.

Some of my favorites: <BR> <BR>L'EPI DUPIN <BR>11, rue Dupin, 75006 Paris <BR>Phone: 01 42 22 64 56 <BR>This is near the metro Severes Babylone, then a 1 block walk to rue Dupin. We met friends of mine for dinner and this is my second favorite restaurant in Paris. Judy and I had a delicious calamari appetizer, which had roasted red peppers, onions, and sauteed in a sweet sauce. Next we had a shreaded veal sausage in the shape of a burger and pasta with a cream sauce. For dessert, I had their cholocate cake with pistachios and chocolate sauce. Definitely for the chocolate lovers. My friends bought the wine. Total for Judy and me $48. <BR> <BR>CREMERIE RESTAURANT POLIDOR <BR>41, rue Monsieur-Le-Prince <BR>75006 Paris <BR>Phone: 01 43 26 95 34 <BR>I had their delicious homemade pate with bread; a tender pork dish in a curry sauce and rice; lemon tart for dessert and their local red wine. $38. This is a lively place filled with locals. Prepare yourself for a home-cooked style meal in a hectic atmosphere with waitreses who are too busy to care about good customer service. If you keep this in mind when you go to this restaurant, you'll have a great evening. <BR> <BR>CHEZ MAITRE PAUL <BR>12, rue Monsieur-Le-Prince <BR>Phone: 01 43 54 74 59 <BR>This restaurant is around the corner from our hotel (Grand Hotel des Balcons). Make sure you have reservations for this place. We met some friends for dinner on 17 October 2000 and had a great dinner. Like last year, we started with a Kir. I had their delicious escargot, followed by their rack lamb with scalloped potatoes. For dessert, I had their creme brulee. Delicious! We also had white wine with our meal. Total bill $36.34. This was an excellent meal at an excellent price. . <BR> <BR>NOS ANCETRES LES GAULOIS <BR>39, rue Saint Louis en I'Isle <BR>Phone: 01 46 33 66 07 <BR>www.les-gaulois.com <BR>As I wrote in my journal, this is a fun place to visit. You make your own salad from a large basket of lovely vegetables that is placed on your table; help yourself to the vegetable and cold meat board and to the house red wine, which is in a wooden barrel (all you can drink!). I had their beef kabobs, which Judy had a steak (better than my kabobs); a cheese platter and creme caramel for dessert. $51. If price isn't an issue, you can't do much better than Taillevent in the 8th Arr. It feels like you are dining in a private club without that feeling of "stuffiness." <BR> <BR>The service is incredible and the staff does everything but cut your food for you. <BR> <BR>It is not cheap, however. Lunch, with a great bottle of wine can run about $300 for 2. <BR> <BR>We have had 2 great meals, and 1 ok meal, at Relais Louis XII in the 6th Arr. <BR> <BR>

FWIW, an indispensable choice among Paris restaurants if L'Ami Louis on Rue de Vertbois. It's the bistrot of bistros, serving superb roast chicken, leg of lamb, steaks, and accompaniments that will assure a perpetually high cholesterol level. The decor hasn't changed in decades, but is very appropriate. The service is fine and the overall experience is terrific. Yes, it is costly. Easily $100 per head. I've been to more than a dozen three stars, but L'Ami Louis was the most fun and memorable.

If I have one favorite restaurant in Paris, it would be the one I always return to: the Restaurant des Beaux Arts, near the Ecole des Beaux Arts in the 6th. Certainly not the <I>best</I> restaurant in Paris, but atmospheric, fun, and it has good food & wine at reasonable prices.

I don't know if you want to est greek food in Paris, but if you do check out rue de Saint Severin in the Latin Quarter. There's a place called Paros which is some of the best greek food I've ever eaten. The owner stands outside and breaks cheap clay plates to attract the tourists. Don't let a little cheezy behavior deter you! Try the platter for two and make sure you arrive hungry. Cost of the platter is about $35, pp that's $17.50 each. Very good food at modest prices.
