Favorite restaurant in Florence
Hi..
Another question..what is your favorite restaurant in Florence. We will be there for 4 days...Want to try some real neat places to dine. Thanks.. Phyllis |
My very fave is AI QUATTRO AMICI in Via Orti Oricellari # 29. We stumbled on this restaurant 1 1/2 years ago and the food is still in my best memories of this city! The restaurant is near the Railway Station of Santa Maria Novella, so it is pretty central.

Good evening, Phyllis 1
Have two which we have used at least each time we return to Firenze. Trattoria Mama Gina, Borgo S. Jacopo, 37r, $$$ cross to south end of the Ponte Vecchio, turn right about a half block down on left... Trattoria de Celestino, Pza. S. Felicita, 4r, $$$ cross south end of Ponte Vecchio, turn left into small square to the left.... Both have very good food and service, fill up early by 730P..Richard of LaGrange Park,m Il.. |
Il Ritrovo
Via de? Pucci 4/A Best food for the price Has fish. Full dinner w/wine abt 40E pp Closed Monday From Pzza San Giovani (NW corner of the Pza del Duomo) walk one blk East to Via dei Martelli. Go left to Via dei Pucci. Turn Right. Look very carefully on left. No sign. Door could be locked. Ring bell. |
I don't remember the address but go to Bordino. It is a short walk across the Ponte Vecchio. We asked a salesperson for a good restaurant and were told to go there. Fantastic meal at reasonable, but not cheap, cost. Great atmosphere and the food was wonderful. Our entire group says it was the best meal we had in Italy. Enjoy! Jackie

Favorites:
Osteria da Benci:the bistecca is very good Osteria Santo Spirito (bohemian vibe, good food, large portions) |
My favorite is La Giostra. There's a review of it here in Fodors--check it out.

We liked Ristorante Da Mimmo on via San Gallo. A charming restaurant with a charming and gracious host who spoke English and happily guided us through the menu. A thick country style soup, and a whole suckling pig were the specials of the day and they were fabulous. http://utenti.lycos.it/damimmo/

I don't think that I could eat a whole pig *and* a bowl of soup. |
For a casual lunch of good local fare in spot that is frequented by tourists and truckdrivers, I'd suggest Le Mossace. It's just down the street from the Doumo and has good, hearty food at reasonable prices in a communal setting.
We also had a great meal at La Girostra. I'd suggest you try some of the Tusacan specialities like the Pasta with a Wild Boar Ragu and something like the Rabbit. |
I really enjoyed dining at:
Osteria del Cinghaile Bianco Borgo S. Jacopo, 43r Tele: 055-215706 http://www.cinghialebianco.it [email protected] Delicious wild boar with polenta. Monica ((F)) |
we really enjoyed eating outside at Quatro Leone and also casual meal outdoors at Trattoria Zaza in Piazza Mercato Centrale (sp?) right near all the San Lorenzo markets.

Enoteca Pinchiori if budget allows. Expensive but worth it. Excellent food and service. I can compare it many with only French Laundry in USA.

I second Osteria da Benci. Not only is the bistecca is very good, the spaghetti cooked in red wine is great.
