Favorite Paris Bistros in 6th or 7th Arr.

We are going to Paris in March and would like a suggestion of a great bistro in the 6 or 7 Arr. Any suggestions welcome!
I really enjoyed this restaurant. Has sidewalk tables (however, booked when I got there), sat just inside the picture window. Very friendly waiters and excellent food.

Le Bistro du 7eme on La Tour-Maubourg

I recommend our favorite:
La Fontaine de Mars -- 7th [same street as Thoumieux]
Concur with posts about Fontaine de Mars (make a reservation a day or more in advance), Petit Trocquet (also reserve), Bistrot du 7eme (the real cheapie for really good food and wine).
Auberge de Champs de Mars on Exposition near Petit Trocquet is also good.
The best in the 7th is Le Florimond, 19 av. Lamotte Picquet. Make a reservation--it is superb.
Thomieux is a restaurant we specifically warn agaginst--overpriced, food not that good, attitudinal waiters.
I know this is our experience and it could have been "just the night" but on another board I did have some agreement.
Another poor performer for us was Chez Papa on av. Bourdanais (sp). La Terrasse right at the Ecole Militaire Metro is a good brasserie choice.

An excellent bistro that hasn't yet been mentioned here is Le Suffren, on 84 Ave. de la Suffren. Technically it's in the 15th, but it's really just on the "other" side of the Champ de Mars. Smart decor, good food, friendly waiters, much less touristy. It received a very good review in the Paris Voice (www.parisvoice.com), which has more detailed info.
We had a bad experience at Bistro du Papa and my husband was very uncomfortable in the raised, two-person booths.

Hi
Off Place St Sulpice are the Rue des Canelles and Rue Guisarde that have a number of bistros of varying types and prices, all of which are good and popular with the locals.
Pariscope happens to have a feature on bistros online at the moment at http://www.pariscope.fr/liste_restaurant.php?spec=FRBI

They mention three in the area you specified:

Chez Collinot : 1, rue Pierre-Leroux (7ème arr.)

Polidor : 41, rue Monsieur le Prince (6ème arr.)

Wajda : 10, rue de la Grande Chaumière (6ème arr.)

Can't call these places "favorites" as I haven't tried them, of course, but they certainly sound good!

Babelfish produces passable (if occasionally humorous!) translations for the bistro descriptions, but if you'd like me to translate them for you feel free to e-mail me privately at [email protected].

Have a fantastic trip...

- Quicksilver -
