favorite non-travel websites
I have relied upon this forum for years for great first-hand travel information. Particularly in the Europe forum, you will get an answer to your question within minutes of posting it (seconds if it's about Italy!), which I find remarkable. In addition to the advantage of having such an active and well-informed community, I find fodors' design very useful (in contrast, for example, tripadvisor has useful information, but the layout gives me a headache). I hope you don't mind my going off-topic, but I was wondering if any of you have favorite websites on other topics that you consult regularly -- for example, I'm home recovering from shoulder surgery and have found a few forums where people share their experiences, but I don't know of a particularly good one-stop health/medical forum. Other topics include cooking, theater, literature, shopping, style, etiquette . . . . For starters, my favorite site for choosing movies is metacritic.com. It allows you to get a brief overview of a host of opinions, both professional and not, without reading a whole review unless you choose to (and I hate reading plot-revealing reviews). Thanks for letting me pick your brain while I convalesce.

Aw, Suzy, you beat me to the punch!
Doriana,
Hope you're better soon.
For medical, I've sometimes used remedyfind.com.
I'm a dog lover (too) and can give you lots of German shepherd websites if you're interested.
I find that if I use google and just enter the area, I get lots of related websites.

Well, when I'm not here, my computer time is over on the Yahoo board for various individual stocks. When things get boring, they'll talk about all kinds of things. Once in awhile I'll visit a website for gardeners.
